You may notice that the name of the band is spelled LYRES on this site, not THE LYRES. Surprised? Just take a look at your LYRES collection and take note. Only the first two 45's ('How Do You Know?' b/w 'Don't Give It Up Now' and 'I Really Want You Right Now' b/w 'Help You Ann') bear the name THE LYRES. All later releases are by LYRES. Because the tracks on the first two singles are Jeff Conolly compositions these singles are not dealt with on this site. All records in my LYRES discography are thus by LYRES, not THE LYRES! I must admit that I didn't notice it myself until Jeff Conolly made it perfectly clear to me. Here's why. After the first two 45's Greg Shaw (of Bomp!/Voxx) told Jeff about this early 50's Doo-Wop group called THE LYRES. They issued just one single ('Ship Of Love' b/w 'Play Boy' - J&G 101) in 1953.

To avoid confusion Jeff changed the name of his band from THE LYRES to LYRES. And LYRES it still is! Now read on...
